King Charles III sends private letter to Donald Trump after surviving assassination attempt

King Charles III personally sent a letter to Donald Trump after the former president survived an assassination attempt on Saturday, Buckingham Palace confirmed to the BBC on Monday.

The private communication from the British monarch was delivered on Sunday through the UK Embassy in Washington, DC.

While the exact contents of King Charles’ letter remain undisclosed, reports suggest it reflects sentiments similar to those expressed by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, aligning with his statements conveyed over the weekend.

Sir Keir Starmer had expressed shock over the attack and conveyed his wishes for Trump and those injured to recover swiftly.

In 2019, then-Prince Charles hosted Trump and Melania for tea at Clarence House, while Queen Elizabeth II hosted a state banquet during Trump’s UK visit the same year.

The former president, aged 78, was injured by a sniper during an outdoor campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday afternoon.

Trump’s ear was seen bleeding before he sought cover and was eventually escorted to safety by Secret Service agents.

Trump later shared on his Truth Social platform that he “felt the bullet ripping through [his] skin” and that it “pierced the upper part of [his] right ear.”

“I immediately knew something was wrong when I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and felt the bullet tearing through my skin,” he wrote. “There was a lot of bleeding, so I understood what was happening then.”

The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot by a Secret Service assault team at the scene.
