A young man has been accused of allegedly poisoning his wife at village 134/9-L, reportedly due to accusations of her childlessness.
According to Ghala Mandi police, Ahmed Raza and two others have been charged under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code for the alleged murder of Nimra Majeed, based on a complaint filed by the woman’s father.
Sources indicate that Nimra, who hailed from Chak 132/9-L, had married Ahmed Raza nine months ago. Her father claimed that Nimra faced “taunting” and “harassment” over her inability to conceive, leading to persistent tensions between Nimra and her in-laws.
On Sunday, Ahmed Raza notified Nimra’s father, Abdul Majeed, that Nimra’s condition had deteriorated, and she had been admitted to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, Nimra’s family discovered that she had passed away.
Ahmed Raza stated that during an argument with Nimra, he administered a substance to calm her down and prevent a disturbance. He asserted that she lost consciousness and was subsequently taken to the hospital, where she died a few hours later.
Nimra’s family alleges that she was poisoned by her husband and his associates. Ghala Mandi police have sent Nimra’s body for a post-mortem examination.
The station house officer mentioned that samples have been sent to a forensic laboratory to determine whether the cause of death was poisoning or due to an overdose of the substance administered.
