We deserve the criticism, Rizwan admits highlighting the team’s flaws

Right-handed batsman Mohammad Rizwan acknowledged on Tuesday that the Green Shirts deserved criticism for their disappointing performance in this year’s T20 World Cup campaign. Speaking in Peshawar, he underscored the importance of criticism in the game and its role in fostering improvement.

“There are multiple factors contributing to a team’s defeat, not just one,” Rizwan told journalists. “Our early exit from the tournament was a result of several weaknesses.”

Pakistan’s elimination from the T20 World Cup during the group stage sparked widespread criticism from fans, analysts, and fellow cricketers, especially following unexpected losses to teams like the USA.

Rizwan expressed disappointment over falling short of national expectations and acknowledged deficiencies in both batting and bowling following the T20 World Cup disappointment.

Addressing speculation of bias within the team, Rizwan dismissed such claims, asserting that all players stand united under the green flag.

Regarding PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s suggestion for “major surgery” within the Pakistan team, Rizwan remarked, “When you’re unwell, surgery may be necessary. The chairman has the authority to decide the team’s future.”
