The Lahore High Court (LHC) has instructed the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to direct all civil and military agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), to refrain from approaching or contacting any judge or their staff. This directive follows a complaint from an anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge in Sargodha alleging harassment after declining a meeting request from an intelligence agency. Former LHC Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan initiated proceedings on the complaint, subsequently continued by Justice Shahid Karim after his elevation to the Supreme Court. The court’s written order, dated June 27, emphasizes the need to safeguard judicial independence and issues strict guidelines to prevent interference in judicial matters.
