Parvez Elahi and his wife deny reports of family reconciliation

Qaisera Elahi, the wife of former Punjab chief minister and PTI president Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, has denied reports of family reconciliation.

She stated that PML-Q chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain had no role in her husband’s release.

“We did not have any kind of family reconciliation; all these claims are lies,” she said in a statement issued on Thursday, responding to reports of a reconciliatory meeting between Shujaat and Parvez Elahi.

Earlier, a PML-Q spokesman had claimed that Parvez Elahi met Shujaat at his residence in Lahore. The spokesman, without specifying when the meeting occurred, claimed that both Chaudhrys had agreed to reunite the family, while allowing each member to pursue their political careers independently.

Qaisera Elahi emphasized that the courts had delivered justice to Parvez Elahi and that her husband had clearly communicated to Chaudhary Shujaat that there would be no discussions between their families until the stolen mandate was returned.

“Parvez Elahi is not willing to join the PML-Q now or in the future because it is a party relying on a stolen mandate. No rational person would want to become a member of PML-Q.”

When contacted, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi told Dawn that no formal meeting occurred between the two Chaudhrys, stating that Mr. Elahi had only spoken briefly with Shujaat Hussain upon his return home after being released on court orders.

“Since they could not break him in jail, the Shujaat family’s latest strategy is to undermine him within the PTI,” Moonis Elahi explained.
