The Gujranwala Agricultural Extension Department hosted a seminar in Narowal to educate farmers about pesticide residues and the Kissan Card initiative. Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Chaudhry awarded top wheat producers with cheques of Rs300,000, Rs200,000, and Rs100,000. Senior officials from the agricultural extension department and other guests attended the event.
Minister Chaudhry highlighted agriculture’s vital role in national development and the need to empower farmers for sectoral progress. He emphasized the Punjab government’s efforts in issuing Kissan Cards to address farmers’ challenges, with Rs300 billion allocated for the scheme benefiting 500,000 farmers. The issuance of Kissan Cards has begun, and lists of dealers have been provided to the Bank of Punjab for registration. Registered farmers can avail interest-free loans of up to Rs150,000, repayable within six months. Minister Chaudhry expressed confidence that these initiatives would enhance prosperity and economic stability in the country.
