Former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain remarked on Tuesday that PTI founder chairman Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, have endured prolonged hardships due to the current PTI leadership’s ineffective strategies.
Speaking to reporters at his residence in Ladhar near Dina, Fawad Chaudhry criticized the PTI leadership for failing to devise a viable political strategy, resulting in escalating problems for the party despite its substantial public support.
“The PTI’s primary focus should be on forming an opposition coalition involving Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), and Jamaat-i-Islami,” Chaudhry stated. He emphasized that meaningful dialogue with the government cannot proceed until these political entities unite.
Chaudhry highlighted that the government is unwilling to compromise, having already lost legal, political, and constitutional battles. “How can the government engage in sincere dialogue when it perceives no consequences for its failures?” he questioned, underscoring the necessity of a united opposition front.
Regarding the suspension of construction on the 128-kilometre Lillah-Jhelum dual carriageway, he revealed that the project’s cost had escalated from Rs16 billion to approximately Rs27-30 billion since its approval by the PTI government in 2021.
He criticized both the federal and Punjab governments for not allocating sufficient funds for development despite substantial budgetary allocations of Rs1.5 trillion and Rs824 billion respectively.
Chaudhry also criticized elected representatives from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Jhelum district for failing to secure funding for projects like the trauma center in Tobah town, which was initially approved during the PTI government tenure.
