Temperatures in the northern regions of Pakistan are expected to decrease until June 22

As Pakistan continues to endure intense heat, weather experts predict that western winds and rains in the upper regions will slightly reduce temperatures until June 22.

“The country is currently experiencing a transition in weather patterns. We do not refer to this as pre-monsoon rains since the rains are due to winds coming from the west. The pre-monsoon rains are likely to begin on July 1,” a Met Department official stated.

The monsoon season will extend from July 15 to September 15 across Pakistan.

The official mentioned that intermittent rains are expected in the upper parts of the country. “The weather will remain warm in the afternoon, but cool breezes and rain are anticipated in the evening or night until June 22,” he explained.

He added that moist currents from the Arabian Sea are affecting the upper and central parts of the country, with a shallow westerly wave also present in those regions.

Windstorms and thunderstorms with rain are expected in isolated areas of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and upper Punjab. Additionally, windstorms and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are anticipated in lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, and central/south Punjab during the evening or night, while other parts of the country will experience hot and dry weather.
