On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) permitted electronic media to report on court proceedings in accordance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard petitions filed by the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association, the Press Association of the Supreme Court, and the PFUJ challenging a PEMRA notification that banned court reporting.
High Court Bar President Ali Azad and Adil Aziz Qazi represented the petitioners.
During the hearing, the counsel for PEMRA requested an adjournment, stating that the senior lawyer was occupied with a case in the Supreme Court.
The court noted that electronic media could report on proceedings following the SC’s guidelines.
Consequently, the court accepted PEMRA’s request and adjourned the hearing to the first week of July.
