Pakistan and the UK to collaborate on law enforcement

On Friday, Pakistan and the United Kingdom signed a letter of intent (LoI) to strengthen their collaboration on law enforcement and criminal justice.

According to a statement from the Pakistan High Commission, the agreement—signed in the presence of Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and UK Home Secretary James Cleverly—highlights the enduring cooperation between the two nations on immigration and criminal justice matters.

Previously, both countries have signed mutual legal assistance documents and collaborated on several cases, including the Imran Farooq case and recent extraditions of British nationals of Pakistani origin, such as Piran Ditta Khan, who was later convicted in the UK for the murder of a police officer.

In 2022, Home Secretary Priti Patel signed a landmark returns agreement with Pakistan, allowing the UK to deport Pakistani nationals who had no legal right to remain in the country.
