Deadlock still persists between PMLN and PPP

Khalid Bhatti

The PMLN and PPP leadership have failed to end the deadlock over the formation of federal government. Both the parties have failed to evolve consensus and to overcome their differences. They will meet again in Islamabad today and the deadlock.

The main reason of this deadlock is the decision of PPP not to join the federal cabinet. The PPP wanted to sport the PMLN candidate for the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif without joining the federal government. The PMLN wants PPP to join the federal government as the junior coalition partner. It seems that PPP leadership is reluctant to share the burden of responsibilities. The Political uncertainty has increased since the February 8 elections. The split mandate resulted in political instability.
