15 traffic police officers are under scrutiny for corruption charges

Seven traffic police officers have been dismissed from their positions, while the service tenure of eight others has been reduced by two years in a significant move to eradicate corruption within the department.

As per a spokesperson for the Traffic Police, during an unannounced inspection led by DIG Traffic Ahmad Nawaz, officials at the Shireen Jinnah Traffic Section, including a section officer, a record keeper, and five constables, were caught accepting bribes from heavy traffic drivers. Consequently, they were relieved of their duties.

Additionally, officials at the Sharae Faisal Traffic Section were found issuing traffic tickets without the presence of an authorized officer, which is a clear violation. In response, the DIG ordered a two-year reduction in the service tenure for the section officer and four traffic police constables involved in this misconduct.

Likewise, the service tenure of a head constable and two constables from the Akbar Road Traffic Section was reduced by two years after a video surfaced on social media depicting them engaging in unauthorized checks.

The spokesperson stressed that the DIG Traffic emphasized stringent departmental action against officers who tarnish the department’s reputation.
