The PTI’s senior leadership convened for a consultative meeting, during which it was revealed that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, in discussions with a party delegation, insisted on joining the opposition alliance only if a fresh movement was initiated from a new platform. Additionally, he sought assurance from the PTI regarding the unwavering support of its founding chairman, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, for his party. The participants agreed to consult with Imran Khan regarding the negotiations with Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Furthermore, Maulana Fazlur Rehman demanded that the PTI establish a committee with the authority to lead the negotiation process for the protest movement during his meeting with the delegation. He requested the PTI leaders to consult Imran Khan and present the members’ names for this authorized committee. A PTI delegation is scheduled to meet with Maulana Fazlur Rehman again next week. The PTI leaders engaged in crucial discussions on Wednesday night concerning the relaunch of the protest movement. In a joint press conference held in Islamabad on Wednesday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, along with PTI leaders, stated that while his party had not yet decided to join the opposition alliance, efforts were ongoing to persuade them to do so. When queried by a journalist regarding whether the JUI-F had requested guarantees from the PTI before commencing an anti-government movement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman affirmed, stating that certain measures were necessary to establish trust during serious negotiations. He further questioned who they should engage in talks with, whether it be the prime minister, the president, or the army chief.
