The Sindh Assembly was informed on Wednesday that the federal government had assured the provincial government that there were no plans to impose taxes on electricity generated through solar panels. Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah provided a statement and responded to queries from lawmakers during Question Hour. He stated that the provincial government had promptly approached the federal government upon hearing reports of such proposals in the media, expressing serious concerns. However, he confirmed that the federal government had assured them that no such proposal was being considered.
Additionally, the House unanimously passed a resolution urging every individual to plant a tree in the province. The resolution, introduced by Pakistan Peoples Party member Khurram Karim Soomro, advocated for the initiation of a “One person — one tree” campaign to protect the environment.
Furthermore, discussions were scheduled for an adjournment motion raised by PPP MPA Nida Khuhro regarding the alarming increase in drug usage among youth and teenagers in educational institutions. The Speaker adjourned the session to Thursday for a two-hour discussion on the matter.
