Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took action on Monday by suspending two senior officers of the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) due to alleged negligence and failure to ensure transparency in wheat procurement.
During a high-level meeting to assess wheat demand, supply, and procurement, the PM ordered the suspension of Passco’s managing director and general manager (procurement). He also mandated a third-party audit of Passco’s stock and directed the organization to acquire an additional 400,000 metric tonnes of wheat.
Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the development and progress of Balochistan, emphasizing the provision of equal education and employment opportunities for the province’s youth to contribute to its advancement.
The meeting on Balochistan’s issues was attended by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Planning Minister Zahoor Ahmed Bilidi, and other officials.
In an interview with Saudi state-owned television channel Al Arabiya, PM Sharif emphasized his government’s focus on economic advancement through extensive reforms and structural changes. He underscored the importance of these reforms for achieving meaningful results and stated his government’s unwavering dedication to the reform agenda.
