National registration exam receives 2,000 applications from Foreign medical graduates

At least 2,000 foreign medical graduates have applied for the upcoming National Registration Exam (NRE), which will be held in two phases in June and July. The registration deadline for the exam ends today.

According to Dr. Imdad Khushk, Registrar of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, “As many as 2,000 foreign medical graduates have applied for the National Registration Exam, which will start from June 2 this year.”

The NRE will be conducted twice a year under the PMDC Act, with proposed dates for the sessions. Dr. Imdad encouraged medical graduates to apply for the NRE to accommodate the maximum number of candidates. Applicants will receive a response from the council regarding their applications soon, and the exam will be held in two steps: Step-I on June 2 and Step-II on July 21-22. If candidates cannot be accommodated on these dates, their exam will be held on July 28-29. The second session of the NRE will be held on November 24 for Step-I and December 28-29 for Step-II. Excess candidates will be accommodated in the first week of January of the following year if necessary.

Additionally, preparations are underway for the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT), with the exam date to be announced later.
