The Balochistan Assembly passed a resolution on Thursday condemning the events of May 9 and calling for the banning and classification of the party responsible for attacking institutions as a terrorist group.
During the assembly session, Provincial Minister Sadiq Umrani presented the resolution on behalf of members Mir Ziaullah Lango, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, and Mir Shoaib Nosherwani.
The resolution described the May 9 incidents as part of a well-organized plot to disrupt the country’s peace, achieving what enemies could not in 75 years.
Mir Sadiq Umrani of PPP emphasized that the violence on May 9 was an assault on Pakistan’s integrity, perpetrated by an individual intoxicated with power who attacked national identity and symbols. He emphasized PPP’s condemnation of all undemocratic actions.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti stated that the May 9 violence aimed to incite people against the state and its institutions. He expressed support for legal action against the perpetrators and emphasized the importance of bringing those responsible for attacking defense institutions to justice.
PPP’s Ali Madad Jattak highlighted that after the arrest of a party leader on May 9, attacks occurred on national memorials, GHQ, Lahore Corps Commander’s House, and other government properties. He drew comparisons to incidents in the US, where similar actions resulted in severe consequences.
Provincial Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gello emphasized the need for a judicial commission, chaired by the chief justice, to identify all involved in the May 9 violence and ensure appropriate punishment.
