Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi announced on Thursday the implementation of new standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance the security of Chinese citizens nationwide. He confirmed this during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Masha Jiang Zaidong, who visited to discuss arrangements for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to China.
During the meeting, Minister Naqvi warmly welcomed Ambassador Jiang and discussed security preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit and ongoing investigations into the Bisham incident. Minister Naqvi emphasized that the attack in Bisham was aimed at undermining the strong friendship between Pakistan and China, and he assured the ambassador of Pakistan’s commitment to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Furthermore, Minister Naqvi mentioned visiting Chinese consulates in Lahore and Karachi, where he received positive feedback from consuls general regarding security measures for Chinese citizens. He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to protect its enduring relationship with China from any hostile actions.
The meeting was attended by Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, senior officials from the Chinese embassy, and relevant officers. Separately, Minister Naqvi took note of a recent fire incident at Lahore Airport’s immigration counter, ordering a thorough investigation and prompt restoration of services for passenger convenience.
