In a move consistent with his reputation for reversals, Imran Khan, the founding chairman of the PTI and former prime minister, has once again changed course. He has now confirmed Sheikh Waqas Akram as the party’s new nominee for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament, replacing Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, his previous choice.
The PTI’s political committee will formally recommend Akram’s name to the National Assembly speaker in the next day or two, as per party insiders.
These sources also disclosed that Ali Muhammad Khan, another party leader, was considered for the position but the committee ultimately settled on Akram. Imran Khan has reportedly approved of Akram’s nomination.
Earlier, Imran Khan had selected Marwat for the position.
