Peshawar SSP operations credits advanced combat strategy for thwarting militant attacks.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Kashif Zulfiqar stated on Monday that the implementation of advanced combat strategies, particularly the intensification of intelligence-based operations and the use of modern equipment, had not only thwarted armed attacks but also forced militants to retreat.

During his visit to the Peshawar Press Club, he noted that security operations in the merged districts and the use of modern gadgets by militants were affecting law and order in the provincial metropolis. However, he emphasized that the adoption of an advanced strategy, including increased intelligence-based operations and the equipping of police with modern weapons, had compelled attacking militants to withdraw.

Zulfiqar highlighted a recent incident where a large number of militants attacked the Jumma Khan post near Nasir Bagh area, which was effectively repulsed. He stressed the need to enhance police infrastructure to keep pace with the city’s expanding population and area.

He also mentioned ongoing efforts to improve professional training, equip officers with modern weapons, and augment manpower for effective policing, emphasizing the need to establish security divisions to counter hardcore militants.

Zulfiqar acknowledged that while the majority of police personnel were recruited for duties at police stations and had limited capabilities to confront hardened criminals equipped with modern weapons, their morale remained high as they worked day and night amid heightened threats of attacks from militants, particularly in suburban areas.

He claimed that with the courage of the police force and the adoption of new strategies, militant attacks were now on hold. Zulfiqar also underscored the importance of the ‘safe city project’ in Peshawar, stating that while the scheme had been delayed, initiating a pilot project for ensuring security in the city was still feasible.

Regarding the use of social media by police personnel, Zulfiqar stressed the significance of upholding departmental standards and maintaining professionalism in official communications. He advised police officials to adhere to established protocols when engaging with social media platforms to avoid actions that could undermine the department’s integrity.

Zulfiqar also discussed the security plan for the upcoming Muharram, urging all stakeholders to support law enforcement agencies in maintaining exemplary law and order in Peshawar.

Regarding animal rights, he mentioned that the police were taking action against individuals involved in organizing fights involving various animals, including cock, quail, partridge, dogs, and bulls.
