An anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued bailable arrest warrants for 14 suspects who were on bail after they failed to attend trial proceedings for two cases related to the May 9 riots.
Judge Arshad Javed instructed the police to ensure the appearance of nine suspects involved in the Jinnah House attack case and five others in the Askari Tower case on May 15.
The judge also directed the suspects to provide fresh bail bonds before their court appearance.
The suspects named in the arrest warrants include Attaur Rehman, Abdul Rehman, Ikramullah, Abdul Hadi, Amanullah, Ali Hassan, Shahbaz Siddique, Rubina Rizwan, Irfan Jamil, Saeed Shah, Mohsin Gull Agha, and Muhammad Parvez.
In a separate development, an ATC granted interim pre-arrest bail to former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders Jamshed Iqbal Cheema and his wife Musarrat Iqbal Cheema in seven additional cases linked to the May 9 riots. The court directed them to cooperate with the investigation and provided bail until May 21 upon submitting surety bonds worth Rs100,000 each.
The bail petitions were filed in connection with attacks on Askari Tower, Shadman police station, and offices of the PML-N, among others. The couple had surrendered to the court in February after being declared proclaimed offenders in several riot-related cases.
