Debutant opening batsman Tanzid Hasan played a fortunate innings on Friday, scoring an unbeaten 67 runs to guide Bangladesh to an eight-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first T20 International held in Chittagong.
Bangladesh chased down Zimbabwe’s total of 124 runs, reaching 126-2 in under 16 overs. Tanzid’s impressive knock included eight fours and two sixes in his debut T20I match, culminating in a boundary that sealed the win against Zimbabwe.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto praised Tanzid’s performance and highlighted the team’s overall effort, expressing optimism for future matches.
Earlier, Zimbabwe had a notable recovery with a record partnership between Clive Madande and Wellington Masakadza, which helped them reach a competitive total after an initial collapse.
The second match of the series will also take place in Chittagong on Sunday, marking Bangladesh’s final series before the upcoming T20 World Cup.
