President Asif Zardari has stepped down from the chairmanship of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP).
According to sources, Asif Zardari has formally submitted his resignation from the presidency of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
It is reported that following Asif Zardari’s resignation, there is a consideration to appoint his sister and provincial assembly member Faryal Talpur as the new president of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians.
Zardari’s resignation from the party leadership comes amid criticism from some quarters for simultaneously leading a political party while serving as the President of the country.
On March 9, Asif Zardari was re-elected as the President of Pakistan, securing 411 votes with 156 votes from the provincial assemblies and 255 votes from Parliament.
