Top Arab and European diplomats are expected to arrive in Riyadh this weekend for an economic summit and Gaza-focused meetings. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in a special session of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on “Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development” on April 28 and 29.
The PM, accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, was invited by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and WEF Founder Klaus Schwab. This participation will allow Pakistan to highlight its priorities in global health, inclusive growth, regional collaboration, and balancing growth with energy consumption.
A Gaza-focused session in Riyadh on Monday will include Palestinian PM Mohammed Mustafa, Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly, and UN aid coordinator Sigrid Kaag. Foreign ministers from Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt, as well as diplomats from France and Germany, will also attend for talks on Gaza.
Following this, the PM will attend the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Gambia on May 4 and 5. He will address issues such as the genocide in Gaza, self-determination for Palestinians, Islamophobia, terrorism, and other challenges faced by the Muslim world, and hold bilateral meetings with Muslim leaders
