PM seeks affordable energy solution for industries

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given formal approval to reform the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) and has established a “special cell” to oversee their implementation.

During a meeting focused on electricity sector reforms, the Prime Minister also instructed officials to devise a comprehensive plan for providing energy-efficient fans to those in need at affordable rates, as per a statement from the PM’s Office.

The meeting included detailed discussions on various issues such as power distribution company reforms, losses, privatization, outsourcing, tariff rationalization, and electricity rates for industrial and domestic consumers.

PM Shehbaz emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to supply low-cost electricity to the industrial sector, aiming to boost industry performance and efficiency by offering lower tariffs to stimulate economic growth and enhance exports.

In another engagement, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s dedication to equipping youth with contemporary knowledge and vocational training to enhance their value as assets for the nation.

Additionally, during a meeting with a delegation led by APM Terminals CEO Keith Svendsen, Mr. Svendsen expressed interest in Pakistan’s first green transhipment terminal located in Karachi.
