Exporting dairy products to China is being considered

Punjab Livestock Secretary Masaud Anwar announced that Pakistan is set to commence dairy exports to China from a cutting-edge farm established in Sheikhupura. He disclosed this information at the Pakistan Agricultural Coalition’s Agri-Connections 2024 Expo, mentioning that a delegation from China Customs recently visited the farm and informally endorsed dairy imports from Pakistan.

Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Sahoo highlighted the government’s commitment to inject Rs100 billion into the agriculture sector over two years, with an additional Rs80 billion allocated for the modernization of watercourses within three years. Faisalabad Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad urged private entities to consider investing in advanced irrigation technologies.

Naz Khan, the Principal Country Officer of the International Finance Corporation, warned that with Pakistan’s population projected to reach 400 million by 2050, the agricultural sector’s role in meeting food demands becomes increasingly critical.
