MMA fighter Shahzaib Rind criticizes government for inadequate support post-Dubai win against India


MMA fighter Shahzaib Rind expressed disappointment on Tuesday, attributing the lack of government support to their misfortune, following his victory over India at the Karate Combat 45 event in Dubai over the weekend.

Karate Combat, renowned as the world’s premier full-contact karate league, showcased a night of martial arts excellence during its debut event in Dubai on April 20.

The match between India and Pakistan in this combat sport comprised three rounds, with Rizwan Ali securing a knockout victory over Pawan Gupta in the first round. India leveled the contest as Himanshu Kaushik defeated Faizan Khan by decision.

The final showdown between Rind and India’s Rana Singh resulted in a swift victory for Rind, who displayed unstoppable prowess in the pit. Following his triumph, Rind raised both nations’ flags, emphasizing that the fight symbolized a quest for peace and unity, transcending political boundaries that often divide people.

Upon returning to Quetta, Rind lamented the lack of government support for national heroes like himself, highlighting the potential impact of proper support in inspiring the youth and fostering sports participation.

Expressing his aspirations to become a world champion, Rind revealed his ongoing preparations for the upcoming world title in Dubai, vowing to bring glory to Pakistan.

In an interview with, Rind emphasized that Pakistan’s victory over India was a triumph for the entire nation, underscoring the challenges and pressures he faced leading up to the monumental fight. Despite the significance of such contests, Rind expressed disappointment over the insufficient support and sponsorship for athletes like himself, who often bear the burden alone.
