PML-N aims to secure an early advantage in the upcoming by-elections

Following the by-elections held across the country, initial unofficial results suggest that the ruling party is leading on the majority of Punjab seats, with the exception of Rahim Yar Khan. Meanwhile, the PPP has secured the sole Sindh seat, while the PTI has clinched two additional seats in KP. Additionally, the PML-N and BNP-M are poised to secure one seat each in Balochistan.

Despite the election day being marred by several incidents of violence across the country, including one fatality in Narowal, the PML-N appears to have a strong position in Punjab based on preliminary counts. In Sindh, the PPP candidate is leading, and in KP, PTI-backed candidates are ahead in D.I. Khan and Kohat, with Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur securing victory in NA-44. However, the turnout in Punjab and KP was notably low, and allegations of rigging surfaced, particularly from the PTI.

In Balochistan, elections were held for PB-22 (Lasbela) and PB-20 (Wadh), with re-polling taking place in PB-50 (Qila Abdullah) amidst reports of violence. Notably, PML-N’s Nawabzada Zareen Magsi emerged victorious in Lasbela, while Mir Jahanzeb Mengal secured the seat in Wadh.

In Sindh’s NA-196, PPP’s Khursheed Ahmed Junejo is leading with 15,932 votes from 65 polling stations out of a total of 303. The overall voter turnout across regions remained low, with concerns raised about changes in polling stations and limited participation of women voters in some areas.
