Pakistan, Saudi Arabia enhance defense collaboration

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen defense collaboration, with the army chief affirming the army’s ongoing support for capacity building within the Royal Saudi Land Forces, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

This agreement was reached during a meeting between Army Chief General Asim Munir and Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Defense Major General Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, who visited the army chief at GHQ in Rawalpindi.

Various topics of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting, including defense production and military training.

The visiting dignitary praised the Pakistan Army’s accomplishments and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, as well as its significant contributions to regional peace and stability.

Additionally, the Saudi official participated in the 5th Meeting of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Defense Collaboration at GHQ, which he co-chaired with the chief of general staff of the Pakistan Army.

“The forum deliberated on global and regional security challenges and their impact on Defense Forces. It was noted that rapid advancements in modern technologies necessitate defense industrial cooperation in critical capabilities between the two brotherly countries,” stated the military’s media wing.

Both Islamabad and Riyadh reiterated their commitment to strengthening defense collaboration with a “focused approach aimed at targeting specific capabilities in land, air, and sea domains.”

The strong fraternal ties between the two nations, based on shared religious, historical, and cultural commonalities, continue to grow stronger over time.
