Police say five Japanese nationals were unharmed in a suicide attack targeting their vehicle in Karachi.

On Friday, police reported that five Japanese nationals escaped unharmed after their vehicle was targeted by a suicide bomber in Karachi’s Landhi area. Two terrorists involved in the attack were killed. The incident occurred near Murtaza Chorangi, with the Japanese nationals traveling in a Hiace van. The group was headed from their residence in Zamzama, Clifton, to the Export Processing Zone. A security guard accompanying them was injured. Another terrorist on a motorcycle targeted the van, but the Japanese nationals were unharmed. A second “suicide bomber” at the scene was shot by police. The vehicle was bulletproof. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah ordered an investigation into the attack and directed immediate security arrangements for the foreign nationals. Today’s incident follows a suicide bombing last month that killed five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani in Bisham, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
