The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the results of three National Assembly seats from Islamabad in the Islamabad High Court, alleging rigging in the February 8 elections. The PTI-backed independent candidates have requested the court to revoke the victory notifications of these seats, which were won by members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The candidates challenging the results are Aamir Mughal from NA-46 Islamabad, Shoaib Shaheen from NA-47, and Ali Bukhari from NA-48. The PTI has also joined a grand opposition alliance called Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain (TTA) against the allegedly rigged government, launching protest movements in Balochistan. Former parliamentary leader Khurrum Sher Zaman has also submitted a rigging case to the election tribunal. PTI leader Imran Khan has criticized the election irregularities, calling it the “mother of all rigging.”
