Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium celebrated its grand reopening with a dazzling ceremony on February 7, showcasing electrifying performances by celebrated Pakistani artists Ali Zafar, Aima Baig, and Arif Lohar. This event marked the completion of extensive renovations, completed in just 117 days, transforming the stadium into a world-class cricketing venue.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) organized the event, promising an unforgettable evening with live music, fireworks, and a spectacular light show. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the upgraded stadium, adding a touch of significance to the occasion. To engage cricket fans, the ceremony was made accessible to the public free of charge.
Renovations included new LED floodlights, modern digital scoreboards, improved seating, and upgraded hospitality boxes. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised the teams behind the project for completing it within a tight schedule, elevating the venue to international standards.
The revamped Gaddafi Stadium is set to host key matches of the upcoming tri-nation ODI series featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, as well as crucial ICC Champions Trophy 2025 games, including the semifinal and potentially the final match.
