Sikh pilgrims are traveling to Pakistan in large numbers

Sikh pilgrims from various parts of the world, including India, are arriving in Pakistan to observe Khalsa Janam Din and participate in the festivities of Baisakhi Mela, which begin today. The Indian pilgrims will be welcomed at the Wagah border before heading to Gurdwara Panja Saheb Hasanabdal for the main Baisakhi celebrations. Pakistan has issued visas to 2,843 Indian Sikh pilgrims for this occasion. Upon arrival, they will be received by dignitaries and then transported to Hasanabdal via a special train. The main event of Baisakhi Mela is scheduled for April 14 at the Gurudwara Panja Saheb. The pilgrims will also visit Nankana Sahib, Sacha Sauda, Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, and Gurudwara Rori Sahib during their 10-day pilgrimage, culminating in their departure from Pakistan on April 22. Sardar Ramesh Singh highlighted the historical significance of Baisakhi, noting that it marks the founding of the Sikh Panth by Guru Gobind Ji in 1699.
