Starting from today, farmers can apply for gunny bags through the online Bardana application for this year’s wheat procurement season, which begins on April 22. The application process will be open until April 17, with confirmation messages sent to farmers after verification. Gunny bags will be released from April 19 and distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Wheat will be purchased at a fixed price of Rs3,900 per 40 kilograms, with additional delivery charges. Small farmers with up to six acres of land are eligible for gunny bags. The Punjab government has set up 393 wheat procurement centers across the province. Complaints can be reported to a toll-free number. An awareness campaign is being launched through various media channels. The Punjab government purchases 40% of the wheat produced in the province each year to stabilize market prices.
