Imran writes letter to Army Chief

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated on Monday that party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has sent a letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, stating the “need to reevaluate policy reasons.” He added that the substance of the letter will be made public today.

Last month, there was searious scrutiny surrounding a meeting between General Munir and PTI leaders Ali Amin Gandapur and Barrister Gohar, with the motive of the meeting remaining vague among conflicting accounts from both sides.

Initially, the interim PTI chairman had reject the meeting, but later confirmed it, stating that he had received a “positive response” from the army chief. However, security sources issued a statement denying any political context to the meeting, suggesting that its details were being misrepresented.

Speaking to the media today, Barrister Gohar explained the subject of Imran Khan’s letter: “In the letter, Khan Sahib is reminding the army chief of several issues that have led to a growing divide between the people and the establishment. He emphasizes that this division should not happen. There are several factors that need to be reconsidered, such as the manner in which elections were conducted, the passage and implementation of the 26th Amendment, the enactment of the PECA Act, and the targeting of social media. These issues have resulted in the army unfairly shouldering the blame, and Khan Sahib urges the army chief to reassess these policies to prevent further discord.”
