Seven months into his tenure, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and the Supreme Court have begun to challenge the past, marked by judicial reluctance in accountability and introspection. Chief Justice Isa reinstated full court meetings and agreed to limit his powers under the Practice and Procedure Act 2023, previously suspended by his predecessor Umar Ata Bandial, who criticized it as interference. According to senior lawyer Akram Sheikh, Chief Justice Isa has introduced an era of transparency and openness since taking office in September last year. Sheikh stated, “Qazi sahib has initiated a new era in our superior judiciary, bringing revolutionary changes to the highest court’s operations.” Chief Justice Isa convened a full court meeting immediately after taking oath on Sunday.
