Omar Ayub Slams Govt Over PECA, Announces Power Show in Swabi
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, condemned the government on Saturday for executing the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), accusing it of restricting free speech.
Speaking to the media in Sargodha after attending a court hearing, Khan suspected that journalists were being deprived of their right to free expression, facing limitations on both speech and writing.
He also held the government responsible for rising inflation and emphasized that the Sindh government would ultimately agree to the federal government’s proposed water distribution plan.
Additionally, Khan blamed Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja for the political chaos following the 2024 elections. He expressed frustration over frequent court appearances without clear charges and criticized the prime minister for disregarding his request to form a parliamentary committee.
Vowing not to let the matter drag on, he announced a power show in Swabi on February 8.
