Major and two soldiers martyred in North Waziristan operation: ISPR

Two army personnel, including a major, were martyred in a firefight with terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

The gun battle took place overnight between January 29 and 30 when security forces launched the operation.

According to the military’s media wing, the operation led to the successful targeting of a terrorist hideout, resulting in the elimination of six Khawarij militants.

The martyred soldiers were identified as Major Hamza Israr, 29, from Rawalpindi, who courageously led his troops, and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem, 26, from Naseerabad, who fought valiantly before sacrificing his life.

Following the operation, a sanitization effort is underway to clear the area of any remaining threats. The ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, with these sacrifices further strengthening the resolve of the security forces.

President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the bravery of Major Israr and Sepoy Naeem, honoring their patriotism and recognizing the efforts of the security forces in eliminating the terrorists. He emphasized that operations against terrorist elements will continue until the threat is completely eradicated, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to safeguarding the country.
