Chahat Fateh Ali Khan warns of legal action against Mathira

Internet personality Chahat Fateh Ali Khan has threatened to take legal action against television host Mathira after she accused him of harassment following an uncomfortable interaction during a recent appearance on her talk show.

Khan appeared on Mathira’s talk show The 21mm Show, during which a video posted on his Instagram showed him moving closer to Mathira while singing his popular song “Bado Badi,” as she seemed to distance herself. He also gave her a one-armed hug and repeatedly held her arm despite her nervous laughter.

In a video titled “Mathira Breaks Silence on Harassment by Chahat Fateh Ali Khan,” Mathira spoke out about the incident, expressing that while guests should be treated respectfully, the experience made her very uncomfortable. She mentioned that the video, filmed from behind, was not permitted on her set.

“Being a woman, yes, I was very uncomfortable because I don’t do this, I don’t hug people,” she stated.

In response, Khan posted a video on his Instagram, claiming Mathira had been asking him to appear on her show for months because it was struggling to gain viewership. He explained that during the interview, Mathira had asked how long it takes to shoot a music video, to which he responded he would show her after the show.

Khan also claimed that after the show, during the photo session, Mathira came to him and placed her arm around his waist, prompting him to straighten her for the photos. He emphasized that she had enjoyed the filming process and was laughing throughout.

Khan denied the harassment allegations, stating that Mathira’s accusations were unjust, especially after the show’s success. He announced that he had already consulted with his lawyers and was prepared to take the matter to court.

He described Mathira as a respected senior artist and said he had refrained from answering many of her questions during the show, instead laughing to ensure the show gained coverage. Khan also denied that anyone else was involved in secretly recording the video, claiming that a cameraman from Mathira’s team was responsible for filming it.

Mathira has yet to respond to Khan’s statement.
