The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), in partnership with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), has launched the ‘Rahguzar’ mobile app to help consumers locate authorized fuel stations across Pakistan.
The app uses Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to improve transparency and allow users to find legal fuel outlets easily.
The app was introduced at a ceremony at OGRA’s head office in Islamabad, marking an important step in the digital transformation of Pakistan’s oil supply chain. ‘Rahguzar’ enables consumers, district authorities, and law enforcement agencies to identify illegal petrol stations, report overcharging, raise quality issues, and file complaints.
OGRA Chairman explained that the app resulted from discussions with the FBR in August 2024 and is part of a broader effort to introduce a track-and-trace system to ensure accountability, curb illegal practices, and strengthen the integrity of the oil sector.
Last year, OGRA also dispelled rumors about the deregulation of petroleum prices, clarifying that such a move could have serious consequences for the oil industry and the public. The authority also informed oil refineries that a draft on petroleum price deregulation had been prepared as per the Prime Minister’s Office directives.
