Formation of cabinet in Balochistan is still pending

While the other provinces have successfully formed their new administrations, the formation of the Balochistan cabinet is still pending, despite Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti’s election as the leader of the house almost a month ago. Bugti, who assumed office as chief minister on March 2, had initially indicated that the cabinet would be finalized after the Senate elections, with ministers taking oath on April 4. However, due to Bugti’s sudden trip abroad owing to his brother’s illness, the announcement was delayed. The coalition partners, including PPP, PML-N, Balochistan Awami Party, and Awami National Party, have reportedly reached an agreement on cabinet formation. The process is expected to resume upon Bugti’s return. Additionally, there’s a possibility of another party joining the coalition. Despite setbacks, such as PML-N losing the slot of the speaker due to a deseated candidate, efforts are underway to finalize the cabinet structure based on a power-sharing formula among the coalition parties.
