An anti-terrorism court has granted post-arrest bail to 39 PTI activists accused of attacking Lahore’s corps commander’s residence, known as Jinnah House, during riots on May 9. Judge Arshad Javed allowed the bail petitions, with each activist required to furnish Rs100,000 in surety bonds. The activists, including Shan Ali and Nadir Mahmood, argued they were peaceful participants in a political march and weren’t involved in any illegal activities. They criticized the lack of evidence and specific accusations against them, noting inconsistencies in the police’s actions. The Sarwar Road police had filed FIR No. 96 against PTI leaders and workers for attacking and vandalizing Jinnah House during protests following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Over 200 PTI activists have been granted bail in connection with the Jinnah House attack over the past two months, facing charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act and other offenses.
