Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to compile a detailed report on developing new hotels and modern amenities through joint ventures and public-private partnerships to boost tourism in Pakistan.
During a meeting on Capital Development Authority (CDA) affairs, the prime minister highlighted the role of modern infrastructure in promoting tourism nationwide. He commended the CDA for successfully organizing international conferences in the capital, calling them a reflection of Pakistan’s diplomatic progress and renewed trust from friendly nations.
PM Shehbaz underscored the need to upgrade hotels, hospitals, and other facilities to host international events, ensuring world-class amenities for foreign guests. He also directed the CDA to enhance services for Islamabad’s residents.
The meeting disclosed that pre-feasibility studies for building new hotels and repurposing unused government buildings in Islamabad have been completed. The session was attended by Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, the CDA Chairman, and other senior officials.
In related efforts, PM Shehbaz highlighted ongoing government reforms to position Pakistan as a premier tourist destination. Under a new visa regime, tourists from 126 countries can now obtain fast-track, fee-free visas. He expressed optimism that these reforms would drive tourism growth and contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development. He also noted Pakistan’s participation in World Tourism Day, reaffirming its commitment to global tourism promotion.
