The G7 leaders expressed full support late Thursday for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, emphasizing their commitment to backing the deal. In a joint statement, they described the agreement as a significant step that could facilitate the release of all remaining hostages, provide essential humanitarian aid, and enable civilians to return to their homes and rebuild their lives.
The leaders thanked Egypt, Qatar, and the US for their mediation efforts and urged all parties to honor the terms of the agreement. They also called for constructive engagement in the next phases of the deal to ensure its full implementation and a lasting cessation of hostilities.
Highlighting the urgent need to address Gaza’s worsening humanitarian situation, they demanded the safe and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance and protection for civilians and aid workers, stressing the importance of upholding international humanitarian law.
Reaffirming their support for a peaceful resolution, the G7 leaders called for a credible path to peace, including a two-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians can coexist peacefully. The ceasefire is set to take effect this Sunday, as announced by Qatari officials.
