Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, Miranda Lambert, and other music artists oppose AI-created music.

Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, Miranda Lambert, and other prominent artists have joined forces to denounce the use of AI in music creation. Led by the Artists Rights Alliance, they have signed an open letter urging AI developers, technology companies, platforms, and digital music services to refrain from using artificial intelligence in ways that infringe upon and devalue the rights of human artists.

While acknowledging AI’s potential for creativity, the letter highlights the risks associated with its misuse, noting that some platforms and developers are leveraging AI to stifle creativity and undermine artists, songwriters, musicians, and rights holders.

The letter’s signatories include a diverse range of artists such as Billy Porter, Brothers Osborne, Camila Cabello, Darius Rucker, FINNEAS, Imagine Dragons, J Balvin, Jonas Brothers, Jon Bon Jovi, Kate Hudson, Metro Boomin, Noah Kahan, Norah Jones, Pearl Jam, Sheryl Crow, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, and Zayn Malik.

This initiative reflects a growing concern among musicians about the impact of AI on the music industry. Brian May of Queen has expressed concern about AI’s potential to blur the lines of artistic expression, while Bad Bunny has criticized the viral TikTok song phenomenon, urging those who enjoy such music to leave his group.
