Punjab discovers gold reserves valued at Rs800 billion in Attock

Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals, Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, revealed the discovery of significant gold reserves, estimated at 2.8 million tola, in the Attock district.

The reserves, valued at approximately Rs800 billion, were uncovered during a survey conducted at the confluence of the Kabul and Indus Rivers.

The Geological Survey of Pakistan confirmed the discovery, and the findings were later verified by the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK). The provincial cabinet is set to review the project, with a high-level committee already formed to oversee the auction process.

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is scheduled to receive a detailed briefing on the breakthrough.

In related news, local gold prices fell in line with global trends. The All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported a decrease of Rs1,400 in the price of one tola of gold, bringing it down to Rs277,900. Similarly, the price of 10 grams dropped by Rs1,201 to Rs238,254. Internationally, gold prices fell by $14 to $2,661 per ounce, while silver prices remained stable at Rs3,350 per tola.
