The synoptic situation indicates that continental air is dominating most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is present over the northwestern regions.
In the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most areas, with very cold or partly cloudy conditions in hilly regions. Moderate to dense fog affected much of Punjab.
Leh recorded the lowest temperature in the country on Tuesday, dropping to -12 degrees Celsius.
