Govt Questions PTI’s Commitment After Failure to Submit Written Demands in Talks

Senator Irfan Siddiqui, the spokesperson for the government’s negotiation team, has strongly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for failing to fulfill its commitment to submit written demands by the December 23 deadline. Speaking to Geo News, Siddiqui pointed out that it had been 22 days since the agreed-upon date, and PTI had not yet provided their demands in writing. He further clarified that the government remains committed to addressing PTI’s demands but emphasized that a response would be provided before the January 31 deadline, which was set for finalizing the discussions.

The third round of negotiations between the government and PTI is scheduled for January 16. During this session, PTI is expected to present its demands in written form. This session is viewed as a crucial point in the ongoing talks, as both parties seek to resolve key issues and move forward with negotiations.

In the meantime, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif voiced concerns regarding PTI’s sincerity in the negotiation process. He accused the party of deliberately delaying the proceedings and not being serious about securing the release of their leader, Imran Khan, from prison. Asif’s comments have raised further doubts about PTI’s commitment to resolving the ongoing political and legal issues.

The criticism from the government comes as tensions remain high between PTI and the ruling coalition, with both sides continuing to face challenges in reaching a mutual agreement on the way forward.
