Imran Khan’s lawyer urged the Islamabad High Court to disregard the testimony of former PM’s principal secretary, Azam Khan, in the cipher case due to alleged coercion. Barrister Salman Safdar argued that Azam Khan’s testimony was obtained under suspicious circumstances as he went missing before reemerging to testify against Khan. Safdar raised doubts about the validity of Khan’s statement, claiming it was recorded without proper notice to other accused individuals. The court reviewed records showing Khan’s disappearance and subsequent testimony a month later. Safdar emphasized that the testimony should not be trusted due to the questionable circumstances surrounding it. Imran Khan, speaking after the hearing, claimed to have been convicted by judges under pressure, citing incidents involving judges dealing with his cases. He welcomed the Supreme Court’s notice on the letter from six IHC judges regarding interference from intelligence agencies but expressed that a full court hearing would have been preferable.
