South Africa Reveals 15-Member Squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
South Africa has announced their 15-player squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan and the UAE. Temba Bavuma will lead the team, which sees the return of pacers Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi.
Nortje makes his comeback after recovering from a stress fracture in his back, which had kept him out since September 2023, preventing his participation in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and South Africa’s following home series. Ngidi also returns after overcoming a groin injury suffered in October 2024.
The squad features 10 players who were part of the team that reached the semi-finals of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. New faces include Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Wiaan Mulder, all of whom are set to make their debuts in a 50-over ICC event.
South Africa, having recently finished as runners-up in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and as finalists in the World Test Championship, will begin their Champions Trophy campaign next month with group-stage matches against Afghanistan, Australia, and England.
